Jerry’s Story
Born in Leonard, Texas, Jerry grew up in rural Texas where the outdoors were his home. After graduating from High School, he embarked on a woodworking career, apprenticing under a master carpenter. For decades, he created custom home wood interiors including staircases, cabinetry, and crafted mouldings.
After meeting his wife, Hanna, they began to experiment with tables created from wood mosaics instead of the common ceramic or glass mosaics. As they continued to hone their craft, vessels of all kinds began to intrique them an soon their artworks were in galleries across the State of Texas.
Their mosaic sculptures, vases, vessels, and boxes are one-of-a-kind of mysterious and intense. Made from exotic elements such as zebrawood from Africa, amethyst, beads of jade, Australian leopard wood, and Persian turquoise, their art is startlingly tactile.
Their studio and home is on Lake Texoma on the Texas/Oklahoma border. Their work has been displayed at the Texas State Capitol and the George Bush Library in College Station, as well as in private collections across the country. Galleries in Houston, Fredericksburg, Boerne, and Denison, Texas and Hot Springs, Arkansas display numerous pieces.
In 2020, Jerry was hospitalized for a severe case of Covid-19. Thanks to great doctors and a loving God who answers prayers, Jerry survived but still suffers from many complications. The best therapy seems to have been daily golf card rides to Lake with his dog, ZuZu. As they walked around the shores, Jerry began taking pictures and soon discovered he had a bit of a talent for catching beautiful skies and sunsets.
Today, as Jerry continues to rehab from Covid complications, he spends his time creating rustic wood crosses and photographing his beloved lake.
